For the last couple weeks, I have had agonizing pain in my left jaw, and couldn't open my mouth enough to put anything in it larger than a soda straw. I suspected some kind of TMJ / TMD disorder.

(Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are a group of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the joint that connects the jaw to the skull. These disorders can cause pain, dysfunction, and abnormal jaw movement, impacting chewing, speaking, and other activities.)

We went to see my dentist yesterday, and he confirmed my suspicions. I go back the 29th to be fitted for a "night guard" appliance to keep in my mouth at night to prevent grinding and clenching my jaw / teeth. Hopefully that will help.

He prescribed a butt-load of pills to take in the meantime to relax the jaw muscles, and (hopefully) reduce the pain. I'm also applying a hot compress to the left side of my face a few times a day.

This "Golden Years" thing is highly overrated. I want my money back.
