June 18, 2024

It’s been an “interesting” couple weeks or so since my last entry. On the health issue(s), I had some blood tests, which showed a deficiency in vitamin D2, and B12. Same as Jo. So, I’m now taking D2 pills once a week. I’ll be starting B12 meds and may well end up taking the monthly B12 injections. At least Jo and I could get the B12s done at the same time.

I’ve also had cervical and head x-rays done on the 11th, but no real results yet – so I guess my head isn’t about to explode or anything. We have our yearly checkups in July, so will get the results then. As far as the pain goes…. To quote a little John Denver, some days are diamond, and some days are stone. The last 2 days have been slightly on the ‘stone’ side. It seems to happen more when I’m stressed about things (which happens more than I’d like).

Today was an interesting day. For several years now, I’ve noticed one of the trees in the back yard looking more and more gnarly. A couple months ago, I called Ryan Lawn & Tree to come out and have a look. Long story short, it was pretty much dead, and right next to power lines leading to the house. He emailed me a quote for $1440 to take it down, but they were about 6 weeks behind due to all the storms lately.

We’re wanting to eventually sell this house, and find another place to live, so I told him to go ahead and put us on the schedule. I could have tried to take it down myself, but I didn’t want to take a chance on having it fall the wrong direction. And then, there would be the mess to clean up afterward. I’ll let the pros do it.

Today was the big day, and I have some photos below of the proceedings. These guys were awesome! In less than an hour, they had that tree down, all the chunks of trunk, all the branches and small bits of tree all cleaned up and stacked neatly in the front yard. Not long after, a truck with a big pick-up claw stopped out front and cleared all the tree debris out of the yard. The guy got out of the truck and actually raked up all the smaller bits of stuff. These guys earned that $1440.

I learned the hard way many years ago to just call the pros. I called one of those “Two Guys and a Chainsaw” outfits to take out a tree in the front. They wanted payment up front, and never finished the job. I was left with a 30 foot “stump” and ended up calling Ryan to finish the job, anyway. Lesson learned.

There’s a free testimonial for ya, Ryan! LOL

In other news…. I’m putting the finishing touches on page 47 of the TNA story – it will be posted on Renderosity this weekend – or maybe a bit sooner.

I’m also hoping to start some updating on my sadly neglected website, Patreon, and Ko-Fi sites.

And now, some pics from today’s activities.

This is looking pretty much straight up. Lots of dead branches up there.

And they're tangled in the power / cable lines.

Getting the felling cut started..

There she goes!

Almost there......

CRASH!!

Cutting the trunk into manageable pieces.

That light dot in the hole is daylight coming through holes on the other end.

Everything neatly piled in the front yard.

And not long after, the clean-up truck arrived. I told the operator I needed one of those claw trucks. He said, "Yeah, it's really handy!"

And, the last bite. So long, old tree.
