Rod’s Lair now has a new home. The migration from GoDaddy to Namecheap is complete.  And it’s time to do some housekeeping. My website has been in its current form for years – it’s time to redecorate! My and Jo’s emails have also been migrated to Namecheap. More on that in a moment or two.

Like any other changes, there are pros and cons to this one. One of the cons is that I cannot post any artwork on my site containing nudity. And anyone that knows my artwork knows it’s a common subject I enjoy creating. I try to keep it classy (no porn) and not degrading to women. I want to celebrate their beauty. Anyway, for now I’ll have to post those at Renderosity and / or my Discord. My pinups on my website will all be SFW and PG! LOL

One of the big “pros” of this change is it will be a lot easier to keep the ol’ website updated via the file manager in the cPanel app. Also their chat / support team is pretty responsive. They would be great if they could actually fix my problems from the last couple days.

Which brings me to……

A really BIG “CON….” After a stressful, frustrating, and discouraging two-day battle, I still have the same issues with my and Jo’s “.rodslair.com” emails as I had with GoDaddy.

This is the same damn error I started getting immediately after GoDaddy made major changes to their email system. Since they got in bed with Micro$oft, it seems they want to force customers into using Micro$oft’s 365 suite (which I already subscribe to), including Outlook. I’ve never cared much for Outlook. To me it seems cluttered and clumsy. Thunderbird is cleaner, and a lot more efficient to use, IMHO.

Anyway, I did set up the emails in the cPanel interface, and I can access them there. It’s kind of a pain in the butt; I must first log in to Namecheap. Then, I have to log in to cPanel. Then I have to find and click on the email icon in cPanel to finally get to our actual emails. Having to jump through all these hoops is going to get old fast.

I should be able to just go right to the emails with the URL, but of course then, cPanel wants my username and password – and both are different from my account username and password.

I have a ticket open with Namecheap’s support on how / where to reset the password, but thus far have not had a satisfactory answer.

Earlier today, I told Jolene if I had “future vision” of all the s##t I’d be dealing with, I might have just decided to stay with GoDaddy. Their support sucks, but at least I could post art with nudity.

Anyway… I’m set up here for now, so I’ll just have to make the best of it. At least until my renewals roll around. My Gmail and Comcast emails still work perfectly in Thunderbird (It’s rather curious that my main email, and Jo’s do not…), and of course our emails are accessible via webmail, and Olympic-level hoop-jumping.

Beyond all that, I am planning on doing some serious updating / redecorating on my website soon, so keep an eye on it. I am also going to be picking up the TNA story both here, and at Renderosity. It’s been too long! In addition, I’m hoping to add some new features, and possibly a section where you can purchase my art and other products (hint, hint..). Seriously, your support will help me keep things rolling, and keep me relatively sane when things don’t work!

I’ll also be keeping this Blog more up-to-date. It’s gonna be a busy fall!

All my best to everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

Rod
