Rod’s Blog: April 14, 2025

My last blog entry was way back in January, when we had a massive snowstorm. It’s now April, and time for lawn-mowing instead of shoveling snow. And the last couple months have had me wondering why the hell I bothered to retire.

There have been more doctor visits than usual, mostly to satisfy our Medicare parts A, B, and C that we’re not planning on dropping dead soon or anything. During our last visit with our Nurse Practitioner, everything looked pretty decent for a couple 70+ year-olds. Our labs looked really good, just a few blood sugars being a wee bit too high, but controllable through diet, mostly.

I’ve been going to the dentist quite a bit lately. Had several fillings, a couple extractions, and “deep cleaning” will start in May. Mostly covered by Part “c” but I’ll have to cover some of the cleaning. Our nurse advised us to get our eyes checked as soon as possible – it’s been a couple years. We just had that done (covered by Part C, mostly), and ordered new glasses.

We also had a little tax issue with Jo’s HH Bonds being cashed in, but that’s all straightened out, and that’s good.

To make a long story short(er), it’s been a busy few months. Spring is always super busy for us.

We just got a new riding mower for the backyard, mainly. It was delivered last Saturday, and I’m excited to fire it up. We had to do a bit of modification to the door on the patio / shed to get it out of sight and the weather.

I’m planning on doing a lot of work on this house over the spring / summer. We are still wanting to move out of this house, and mostly this noisy neighborhood. Loud motorcycles all day and night, and of course the area is filled with plenty of those inconsiderate assholes with the loud, booming car stereos.

With house prices what they are now, it’s insane – and probably won’t improve anytime soon with Donnie Dipshit’s antics from DC. Don’t even get me started….. Anyway, we need to get as much as possible from this place, so we can apply that money to a new place. We’d like to still be able to eat while making payments.

With all the stuff going on now, it’s been a little difficult to get much done on the TNA story. On the days I’m not running errands, going to appointments, or trouble-shooting computer – software hiccups, it’s not as easy to get into creating as it once was. But I’m doing the best I can right now. I am working on the next TNA page (Ch7 – P51), and hope to have it posted soon. Stay tuned.

I’ll also try to update this blog more often so you can see what’s going on in the world of Rod – and Jo, of course!

Stay well.
