Update: January, 10, 2025
My friends – or anyone who actually reads this blog,
Welcome to 2025! I truly hope this is a great year for all of us; I really do.
We all know about who our President will be on the 20th. I’m not looking forward to that in any way, shape or form. I did what I could to prevent that from happening, but sadly, it wasn’t enough. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens and hope for the best. That’s all I’m saying on that subject.
In other happenings, we just had a hell of a winter storm – an average of 11 inches over the Kansas City metro. We have 12 – 14 inches of the stuff in our yard and driveway
I’ve done a bit of shoveling, but I am 76…. And I’d like to make it to 77. I’m not going to give myself a heart attack shoveling snow. This mess hit Thursday, and it is now Tuesday. The temps haven’t reached up to the low 20s as yet, so not much melting. I called a commercial lawn Care / Snow removal company Friday, and the phone was answered by a voice-mail system that informed me they were “not accepting any new snow removal clients…”
So, we’ve basically just been holed up here the last few days. No real reason to get out there with the icy roads, and fools trying to navigate them. I did back the minivan out of the garage and had very little difficulty. Got stuck once but got right back out of it. I did manage to shovel enough to get the driveway gates open. Those are probably going to come off soon.
During our little house-bound spell, I’ve been doing some thinking about some of the stuff I want to accomplish this year. A big one is getting this house market-ready so we can hopefully relocate this spring / summer. I have lots of little projects for the house, and it’s time to get off my butt and get things done. I’m planning on doing this just like it was a job. Spend a few hours each day on house projects, then in the evenings working on my art projects – and yes, that includes the TNA story.
I also want to do some major updating on my website, “Rod’s Lair.” It’s been a few years since I left GoDaddy, and the site hasn’t had any love since then. It’s overdue! I am also planning on seriously adding products and artwork to my RedBubble Store and open up a few more merch sites. I will be getting back on board with Fine Art America / Pixels and reopening my store there.
Once again, I have way too many irons for too small a fire. I need a bigger one – but not as big as the ones around Los Angeles. I feel so bad for those folks that have lost everything.
Well, that’s all for now. I AM going to try to keep this blog updated more often, just in case anyone actually reads it.
Best wishes for a good 2025 for us all.
Rod
